At fewer than 300 pages, the initial size of the Linux Security Cookbook may seem to be meager to cover such a broad subject. But what the book lacks in size, it makes up in content.

While many security books may waste the reader’s time by spending hundreds of pages on introductory subjects; chapter 1 of the Linux Security Cookbook goes straight into using and configuring Tripwire.

The book then goes into fundamental topics such as firewalling with iptables/ipchains, authentication, access control, file control, email security and more.

If you are interested in Linux security, this is a well-written and well-organized book, filled with valuable and timely information.

I recently ordered this scale to replace my 20 year old spring scale and am very disappointed with it’s accuracy. Although my bathroom is only 8 square feet, I get 3 different readings as I move the scale around to different places on the floor. The readings vary by about 5 lbs! I am hoping the lowest one is the most accurate, but I really don’t know.

Since I received my Kindle I have been reading so much more and enjoying it a lot. The Kindle is easy to operate; is lightweight and convenient; and is a snap to order books with( in seconds).

The Sheltering Sky is based on the book of the same name by expatriate writer, composer, and traveler, Paul Bowles. Bowles himself has led quite an interesting life, besides appearing in a cameo and as the narrator of The Sheltering Sky, he has settled in Tangiers, Morocco, where he has lived for 52 years with his Jane, where their neighbor was William S. Burroughs. Another writer he met along the way was Christopher Isherwood who utilized his last name for the character of Sally Bowles in the story that provided the basis for the musical, Cabaret.

Port Moresby (John Malkovich) would seem to be modeled on Bowles himself; however, there are some important differences. In an autobiography, the one thing that you can be reasonably sure of is the protagonist will not die, but to think that The Sheltering Sky is an autobiography is a fatal assumption. Though based on autobiographical elements, midway through the narrative the main character slips away, and thereafter the focus shifts to his wife, Kit Moresby (Debra Winger). Since she has been having a clandestine affair with a traveling companion, George Tunner (Campbell Scott) you might think that the story would culminate in the lovers reuniting, but again that would be a false assumption. Kit’s journey is a long and strange one, and any meaning that can be inferred by it is somewhat esoteric.

Director Benardo Bertolucci is best known for The Last Tango in Paris, and also for The Last Emperor. Stealing Beauty was another interesting effort. The Sheltering Sky falls somewhere in between the Zenith and Nadir. There are great location shots filmed in the North African Sahara desert, but there are also lots of scenes where it just looks so ugly. At one point, they are almost covered in flies, and often times Port Moresby stares off into the desert seeing a beauty only visible to him. Is he being ironic when he announces that the hotel is magnificent? Indeed, Port Moresby is quite an enigma and who better to portray him t

I have to say that I am very disappointed with this scale. After reading many of the great reviews, I decided to order this scale.
Like many, I was replacing my Taylor that was fluctuating about 5 lbs. every time you would step on it.
I’m sorry to report that this scale isn’t too different.
With all the amazing reviews, I was expecting great accuracy. I step on this scale, it gives me number. I wait for it to turn off, and step on it again and it gives me another number. The numbers are within a pound of each other, but with a scale that promises accuracy to the .2 of a pound, this isn’t acceptable to me when there should be no difference when I weight myself just one minute before.
Also, we have tested this scale before and after using the bathroom (when it *should* actually change!), and it doesn’t. It is the same or more.
As I said, with a scale that promises accuracy every time to the .2 of a pound, I’m not satisfied.

This is a heavy little rascal, but it is of good manufacture and has more than enough power to do anything you need a hand blender for. The detachable wand is secure when in use, yet separates easily for cleaning. The power cord length is more than adequate and the top-mounted speed dial operates smoothly. I’m a big guy and my hand size holds the blender comfortably when in use, although the same may not be said for a more petite grip – as I say, it’s a heavyweight workhorse… But I like it.

#1 I believe in God, but not to the extent that I’m right of center.
#2 This is the only book I freely admit to having thrown into the trash bin.

This is an extremely versatile lens capable of handling many different shooting situations. I have been using this lens for a couple years now and my only complaint is that there is no zoom lock so in between shots where the lens is pointed up at a fairly steep angle you will need to make sure that the zoom is still in it’s intended position. I’ts not exactly a walk around lens because of it’s size and weight. It is a good lens to have for shooting wild life or taking photos of the moon. I compared it to the Tokina 400mm lens. This lens was far superior to the Tokina. and as good as the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Super Telephoto Lens. The only advantage is that the Canon had zoom lock.

This lens takes amazing photos. I am very happy with the quality of photos that I get, great color, sharpness and contrast. It comes with a tripod coller, a great carrying case and a hood.

I am very happy with this lens.
